I’m back

June 8, 2010

It has been a busy time around here. Kids, travel, home.  I managed to plant tomatoes (Sweetmillion, Frazier’s Gem), pepper (Northstar), eggplant (Hansel) and potatoes (Butte, Carola, German Butterball, Desiree, Yellow Finn) early April and May. They’re all in containers and they’re coming along nicely. But the weeds in my flower beds are growing like crazy. I can’t even distinguish the beds from the lawn, ugh.  Some plants don’t require a lot of maintenance, though. Thank goodness for garlic! It has been growing since fall (2009) and getting ready for summer harvest. Yesterday I harvested some garlic scapes.  Great for asian-inspired dishes like stir-fry. It has a very mild flavor. It tastes like garlic but without the bite.

My blueberries are looking great, so far. The birds haven’t eaten them. Yet.
