Who ate my petunias?!

June 5, 2008

Rabbits! For almost a week now, I have been trying to solve the mystery of my disappearing petunias. I thought it was voles or squirrels. It turns out that every morning, they foraged my front yard with something to eat, thus the disappearing petunias. Yesterday, they began exploring the backyard where my veggies are. In addition, it is the whole rabbit family, with a cute baby rabbit tagging along. It’s driving me crazy! Zeke thought they’re adorable, even calling out to them as if they’re some kind of pets. Zachary, for once stopped begging me for a pet dog. He even suggested we plant carrots – yeah, right. My kids think they’re little nutbrown hare. I would have tolerated them if not for the damage they did to my Baptisia Australis ‘Purple Smoke’ (supposed to be rabbit-resistant). It’s a plant that takes 3 years to establish and its just getting there. So what to do? I decided to use a repellant. For the price, I sure hope it works.
